Hi everyone! My son, Carter and I ran the 25k Nimble Bear race today to show our support for the Nimble Bear community and those of you doing the No Bear, Yes Bear Challenge. (it was also his first ever 25k which was really special). We took a little video for inspiration and to go over the challenge. Please note that I forgot to mention the google doc we have set up for tracking, so I have added that detail (and others) below: WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE? The challenge is a fun virtual run set up for anyone who registered for the 2020 Nimble Bear 50km, 25km or 10km trail race originally scheduled for April 25th. The challenge encourages you to try to run the race distance you signed up for, however it's more important to u that you're staying connected with your goals and healthy right now - therefore if you run between 10k & 50k you qualify for prizes. - The timeframe to log your run is between April 14th & April 28th. - We will announce the prize draw on April 29th. HOW DO I JOIN? We have a Facebook page called No Bear, Yes Bear Accountability Challenge that you can join if you're on FB. It's a community space to share your training and post pictures of your final run. You don't have to be on FB to participate though. HOW DO I SUBMIT MY RUN? - We have set up a google doc where you can add your name, the distance you were signed up for and the distance you ran for the challenge. - You're also welcome to also post a photo, link to your strava move or other creative ways to share your run with your personal social media sites or on the private group Facebook page with the #nobearyesbear - You can also email me the stats from your run if you don't want to post them. - Click HERE to sign up on the google doc. PLEASE NOTE: the google doc is the main way to track and what we will use to make the draw prizes, so be sure to add your name and details to the document before April 29th. TELL ME ABOUT THE PRIZES!
We want to thank our sponsors Hammer Nutrition Canada & Salomon for their longtime support. We have decided to allocate our 2020 prizing to our race challenges this year. (please note we also have a No Horse, Yes Horse & No Goat, Yes Goat challenges). So while the real prize is having the health and motivation to get out and put some time on our feet, we also have the following prizes we will draw on Tuesday April 28th. - 3 individual $100 product codes to shop online with Hammer Nutrition Canada. - Salomon Running pack (mailed to the winner) - variety of fun misc. prizes (mailed to the winner) We want to extend our gratitude to everyone for their support. We are looking forward to the postponement date of October 17, 2020 and we look forward to seeing you in Rose Valley for a beautiful fall Nimble Bear run. Big love, Rene & Team Questions? Email us! Rene: pacesportsfitness@shaw.ca Hannah: hannahpacetrailruns@gmail.com We recently sent out an email to all Wild Horse Traverse & Broken Goat racers announcing our decision to cancel these events for the 2020 season in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and support bending the curve.
We invested hours into our decision making process over the past three weeks and there are many moving parts and factors to our decision. One of our major considerations was that both of these races take place in very small communities and we have a rather large ratio of racers coming from out of province. Broken Goat, for example, would have over 1,000 people with racers, racers friends/family, volunteers, our partners and our team, that would enter the small community of Rossland and approx. 150 of these racers would be coming from out of province. We understand there are a lot of mixed feelings, however we are truly doing what we feel is best to prioritize the health and safety everyone involved. If you didn’t receive an email, please check your spam folder and email us with any questions you have. We will not be answering questions on our social media feeds. Thanks for your cooperation. We know many hearts are breaking right now and ours are too. Just because we can’t hug it out in person right now, doesn’t mean we can’t send out our love. We want to thank everyone who has responded with kindness, words of support and compassion. Hello Wildhorse family,
On behalf of the entire PACE team, we want to thank you for all the unwavering support and patience as we all move through this uncertain time. We are continuing to closely monitor the current COVID-19 pandemic as we are at a very critical time in British Columbia, in terms of the direction the curve will take. Unfortunately, we can now confirm that the Wildhorse Traverse will not take place as scheduled on May 30, 2020. The information we receive over the next week, however, will help us determine whether we postpone or have to cancel the event. For anyone who has made specific travel plans for the May 30, 2020, event we hope this update allows you time to make the necessary adjustments (if you haven’t already) with minimum consequences. Today is simply about reaching out and communicating where we are currently at in this process. By the end of next week, we will send an email to all the racers with more information regarding the direction of Wildhorse but in the meantime, please refrain from sending any emails until we forward further information. We know you all want more answers, however, please understand that there are a lot of moving parts and we are working hard to pull everything together. There is no higher priority for us than the health and safety of everyone involved and that community is at the very heart of the PACE Trail Series. We want to take this opportunity to let you know that we understand everyone is processing and coping with the current pandemic differently. We also understand that people have different levels of support, stress and responsibilities during this time and that not two people are feeling the same way. For today, please accept a big virtual air hug and allow us to pass along our optimism. We believe in the strength of the Wildhorse community and that we will get through this together and be stronger in the end. Rene Unser www.pacetrailseries.com www.pacesportsfitness.com Thank you for all your patience and support. We hope everyone is staying safe, healthy and trying to maintain connections to their running goals. We have been working hard with land owner, our partners, our staff and the community to finalize a new Nimble Bear race date which is now October 17, 2020.
An email has been sent out today, to all registered racers of the 2020 Nimble Bear outlining the different registration options. We really appreciate the outpour of support from the Nimble Bear family, so far and we continue to wish everyone extra perseverance and kindness to make your way through this unsettling time. There will continue to be solutions to the challenges we face over the coming weeks/months, so let's use this time to support one another and also hit the trails, if only momentarily to clear the mind. On behalf of the PACE team, we wish you much health, love and positivity! We are here to help move through this together and look forward to seeing you on October 17th. Air hugs! Hello Nimble Bear family,
On behalf of the entire PACE team, we want to thank you for all the unwavering support and patience as we all move through this uncertain time. There is no higher priority for us than the health and safety of everyone involved and that community is at the very heart of the PACE Trail Series. Based on the uncertainties around COVID-19, in conjunction with BC recommendations regarding public gatherings, we have made the heart-breaking decision to POSTPONE the April 25, 2020, Nimble Bear. Please understand that this decision did not come lightly. Having said that, we have done our best to keep informed and feel assured this is the right thing to do. We realize that there will be mixed emotions around this decision. We appreciate that you have invested months into your training, some or all of your annual race budget, and that some have invested into travel commitments such as flights and accommodations. We are trying to maintain a strong sense of community and not just looking at this as a postponement, but creating a community piece that we hope will support, encourage and help keep spirits (and training focus) high as we move through these tough and unprecedented times. We have started the planning process for a replacement date but this is contingent on several factors including new permitting approvals. We are targeting the fall of 2020 and will keep you up-to-date as we learn more. For anyone wondering about the May 30, 2020, Wildhorse Traverse, we are working on a contingency plan in the event changes are required and will update accordingly. In the following week, we will send an email to all the racers with more information regarding your registration, deferrals etc. There are a lot of moving parts and we are working hard to pull everything together, so please refrain from sending any emails until all the information is received. Bringing people together on the trails, making new friends, giving hugs, high-fives, eating homemade apple pie, strawberry jam and celebrating all the hard work and camaraderie are just some of the things we hold dear to our hearts and why we created this race series. While the upcoming weeks and months are likely to be uncertain, we are committed to making this experience as positive as we can for everyone. It’s our goal to embrace this change and proceed with the same level of compassion, positivity and hard work that we put into all of our events. Nothing would make us happier than to see you at the new race date and for the opportunity to gather and celebrate together. Smiles and much love, Rene Unser PACE Trail Series Race Director There is no question that the world is feeling a little unsettled with all the uncertainty around Covid19 (Coronavirus).
The PACE team wants to stay true to our values and keep a strong sense of community during this time and also ensure we do our part to help stay ahead of the curve in order to keep people safe. We are continuing to monitor the ever-changing status of the Coronavirus and will keep you informed with any changes to our events as we go. Accordingly, updates will be posted here. In the meantime, we hope that you’re able to stay healthy and connected with your running goals and we want to thank everyone for their support as we rally together through this uncertain time.
